When the reel is unwound and the diameter of the reel reduces, the web retains some memory and does not lay flat but instead has a curve effect called curl. Curl is removed bending the web in the opposite direction using rollers of various diameters. As the reel gets smaller, the curl increases and do the amount of decurl affect must be increased.
