TIP 030-0445 Servo Elevator Upgrade

TIP_030-0445_Servo Elevator Upgrade

Machine Model for Improvement

Pemco packaging machine Model 37, 37HS or 38

Description of Improvement

This upgrade is part of the Technical Improvement Program (TIP); it replaces the mechanical gear boxes for the inside and outside elevator with servo drives.

The load on the mechanical drive train is reduced by removing the elevator axes. The new servo drives are electrically geared to the main drive. Homing procedure on the HMI allows proper startup after the machine powered first time. Elevators can be moved up and down independently of the rest machine, for setup and tuning. Parameters behind the password screen setup the start point of the electrical cam profile, thus eliminating the mechanical timing setup.

This upgrade comes with two new drives and motors and required expansion module to add two servo axes to the controller. Each axis uses the same type drive and motor. The existing elevator plates can be used.

Benefits

  • Eliminates the mechanical gear boxes and timing setup
  • Independent timing adjustment from touchscreen
  • Improved ream placement on the folding section
