TIP W 1760 Servo Sheet Length Accuracy Improvement

TIP W 1760 Servo Sheet Length Accuracy Improvement

Machine Model for Improvement

All Wrapmatic GRM Folio Ream Wrappers built between 1995 and 2006

Description of Improvement

This upgrade is part of the Technical Improvement Program (TIP); it is designed to improve the wrapping film sheet length accuracy to +/- 3mm. This is the same concept used on today’s new production machines build by BW Papersystems.

This improvement is achieved with the installation of the assemblies listed as follows: 1. Add a new paper feednip assembly driven by a servo motor, 2. Add a new vacuum belt assembly using a frequency drive and AC motor, 3. Add a new wrapping film holder and guide assembly, 4. Improved dancer assembly to ensure proper tension and compatibility with the new feednip assembly.

The following main assemblies will be removed from the machine, as they will no longer be required: 1. Fly bar chain assembly, 2. Vacuum bar assembly, 3. Narrow paper feed assembly, 4. Wrap paper hold down bars under the table, 5. Anti-reversing wheel assembly under the table.

With the improved sheet length accuracy, the folding accuracy and overlap consistency will also improve. Overall, this leads to a reduction in wrapping paper of up to 4% as less tolerance is required in sheet length.

This upgrade coupled with belt separation upgrades (TIPs W 2310, 2320, 2330, 2340, 2350) will have a positive impact on the ream tightness and consistency of girth folding and gluing.

Benefits

  • Consistent and repeatable sheet length accuracy and positioning towards the ream
  • Significant reduction of girth glue contamination on product
  • Reduction of wrapping paper consumption by up to 4%, as less sheet length tolerance is required
